It’s been a month or two since I’ve photographed a newborn, so I was anxious to see and post pics from today’s session.  Remember James and Michelle?   Well, Michelle was a super adorable prego mama, and now is a super adorable mommy to Petra.   Petra wasn’t too sleepy, but we worked around that, and got the shots we wanted :)

James and Michelle, she is so sweet and thanks again for letting me into your home to capture this special time in your life!    I hope you enjoy your sneak peak, I know waiting isn’t fun :)   We’ll be in touch soon!

Petra gets to sleep in a vintage basinette that her daddy and his siblings (I think?!) slept in as babies.  It’s gorgeous!

On a side note, we are excited to welcome another Brown baby into our home, Lord willing, in March!   :)

Thanks for looking!

Love these people.  Love the evening summer light.  Love their family interactions.  Sigh.

My lovely, dear sister and her family asked for a shoot to celebrate the girls 1st and 3rd birthdays this summer.   Yay!   Remember Mya one year ago?!   Time sure flies.  Part of the fun of this photography journey I’ve embarked on is that I get to do things like this for friends and family – give them a gift that I hope they will treasure and enjoy for years to come.  I said it last month with Lisa and Harvey’s pictures, and I’ll say it again – it is HARD to pick which photos to edit and display on here, because all of the pictures have that extra special “awwww” factor.   Ally and Mya are some of the prettiest little ladies around!   Okay.  Enough sap.  Must be my sis rubbing off on me (haha, love ya Reens!).

I have to admit, I was a tad concerned after this shoot that I wasn’t going to have a lot of variety.  I had a [borderline] migraine that night, and didn’t have the heart to cancel on them once again…  so I decided to brave it and go ahead with the shoot.   The further we got into the shoot, the worse my head felt, which therefore made me feel un-creative.  But,  I was worrying needlessly, we got an overabundance of great, different shots.  Phewf!

I know you’re dying to see them Reens, so I’ll get on with it :)

minisessions2010

Their big day finally came on July 30th, 2010!   Thankfully, the week before, I checked my trusty Google Calendar, only to discover that I had written down THE WRONG DATE on my home calendar.  So, I had been counting on Sat, July 31st as their wedding date (even had a storyboard made for the signing table with that date!) to realize a week beforehand that Friday the 30th was actually the big day.  After a moment of panic got a sitter (Eric!) all figured out,  confirmed with my lovely second shooter and sister-in-law, Katrina Lodder of Masters Touch Photography, that she could make that date, and got the storyboard reprinted…  phewf!   I don’t even want to think about what could have happened if I hadn’t ever checked my Google Calendar.  Yikes.   Thanks again for coming along Katrina – it was fun to hang out all day and shoot together!!

The weather was gorgeous (perhaps a tad hot for guys in tuxes!) and Kyle and Lorraine’s love and happiness made the day beautiful.   We enjoyed getting to know their families and friends – they are blessed with loving parents, siblings and church community.   Thanks for letting us in to your world, Kyle and Lorraine, and I hope you are having a relaxing, enjoyable honeymoon!    Now, let’s get on with it – the pictures!!

I think some of my favorite photos from a wedding day are often the “getting ready” pictures…   I just love the anticipation of the first look, the wedding and all that good stuff…

bellingham-wa-wedding-photographer2Due to church rules, we weren’t allowed to take photos during the ceremony inside the sanctuary, but I managed to grab this one before the doors were shut….

My camera is officially loving this summer weather… and all the gorgeous families I’ve been photographing!   Teri is the author of this blog…   if you haven’t read yet, you definitely should become a follower.  She’s a great writer, and her style of writing is fun and catchy!   I’m always excited to see a new posting come up…   :)    Yay for blogs.

On to the pics.  We met at the ever-so-amazing WWU campus in Bellingham.   I could shoot there 20 times before ever running out of different spots for pics…  it’s just gorgeous there.  You might remember Stephen and Jessica’s wedding pics from last August there?   Fabulous place!   I’m hoping to go back in the fall…  when the leaves are changing.   Let me know if you’re interested in booking a fall session at Western!

Now… without further ado.. the Milnes family.

Now, to blog about a family that is very near and dear to my heart.   One would think this would be an easy thing to do, but for me, it’s torture.  Between trying to whittle down to a manageable number of pics to even edit and present, decide what to write – something quippy, cute and not too sappy,  and then to choose a small-ish amount of photos from the list to put on the blog!   I found myself going through the pics from this session and wanting to keep them all, because that certain look was so Noah, or that big wide open mouth laugh was so Lisa, or that pose was so Harv or that grin was so Chloe.  But, I sucked it up, and did what I do, and they just might be given more photos than they know what to do with :)   Haha.

Really though, there is so much I could say about this family.  They are God-serving, fun-loving, and go-getting.   If  you look back on this post from last May, you can see how much the kids have grown… but more importantly how I wrote about how they were going to be moving to Australia for a year.  :(    WELL…  God decided He had other plans for their family, and Harv was offered a pretty sweet job here, and they never got on that plane!!   A win-win all around I’d say.

Lis, capturing you and your family through my lens was such an honor to me.   You are a beautiful person, inside and out, and it’s so easy to see that in these photos.  Your love for Harv and the kids is so obvious… you are an amazing wife, mother and child of God – as well as a fabulous BFF :)   So thankful for you – and I hope that these pics are all you hoped for!

On to the pics.  We waited a long time for the right summer day to come along… and after about a month and half, that day arrived.   We started around 8 pm, and the light was lovely…  nothin’ beats evening sun, a bench and a happy family.   I’ll take that any day!

this shot was just taken to change my settings for the new locations, never meant for it to be anything – but i saw it, and it just spoke to me.  not literally, only figuratively.  cause that would be weird – if my monitor started speaking to me.

Out of the office

July 11, 2010

I will be on vacation beginning Monday through Friday, and will be able to respond to any emails on Saturday (17th).   Here’s to a week off – and lots of sun!!  Yay!

And what blog post would be complete without a pic?   This guy is fun, happy, stubborn, energetic, crazy, goofy and trouble all rolled into one handsome boy!   Life would be boring without Joey, our oldest son, in our lives.  Love this kid so much!

Summer is finally here!   The sun made for some beautiful light tonight – I couldn’t help but post just one for now :)    Look for the full sneak peak sometime in the near future!
