Proud to be an American

July 23, 2009

A few weeks ago we travelled to San Diego, CA to witness my (little) brother graduate from Marine Corps Bootcamp and become a United States Marine.  It was a humbling and awesome experience, to see 312 young men hand their lives over to the Marine Corps and serve their country for the next 4 years.   This was the first time Reece had seen or talked to us (he was only allowed to write and recieve letters) in 12 weeks, so needless to say he and all of us were excited.

It was evident how the previous 3 months had changed these young men.  The chorus “honor, courage and commitment” rang strong as family day and graduation day commenced, and they were reunited with their families.  We are proud of you Reece and what you’re doing for our country, and you are constantly in our prayers.   You are missed already!

Here are a few pics from family day and graduation….

I promised Tania her sneak peak soon, so I thought I better keep good on my word :)   We’re heading out to camp for the weekend, so I sit here and edit as Eric packs the truck up.   I really enjoyed photographing this energy filled family this week – thanks guys!  The kids are adorable, and in looking at the pictures, I can’t believe how striking everyone’s eyes are!  Wow.   The session ended with me racing Gavin, the 7 year old, across a grassy field.  Let me tell you, I am NOT as young as I used to be, and I was sore the next day.  How sad is that!

Well, here we go….

Second shot of the shoot, not bad huh?!

Dillon (sp?) was a bit shy with me at first, but once I started talking his language (Lightning McQueen and firetrucks) he was good to go.

Hope you enjoyed your visit to my blog!

Well, after a wonderful week off enjoying sunny southern Cali, it was back to work!   Thanks to Eric’s cousin Lisa I am the proud new owner of a new logo …  whatcha think?  I love what she did, and how she let me be picky :)   You rock Lisa, thanks again!  I love it!  I’m sure there will be some tweaks to my watermark etc, but for now, this is it.   I made some changes to the blog too for the interim, but within the next while it will totally be revamped into a blogsite, with galleries of past work etc.  I’m excited for all these new changes!

Then this past weekend, I had the pleasure of taking some family pics for this wonderful family.   I enjoyed spending time with them all,  it was definitely a fun session.    Lots of laughing and cooperative kids makes for a great shoot!  Thanks for the opportunity guys!   Here is your sneak peak, enjoy.

I just love how happy the kids are, and how much fun they have as a family.
