I am excited to announce that on Sat, June 5th you can come visit the Alyssa Brown Photography table at the Lynden Kids Market!   A gift certificate or two will be given for some raffles, and I’ll be sure to have lots of goodies and maybe even some coupons and giveways at the table!   I’m so honored and excited to be a part of this – I’d love to see you there!  (Thanks again Denise!)

Just for stopping by, you will receive a special offer – so come on by, and bring a friend or two!

And, what post is complete without a picture?  This is my crazy boy (gets it from his Dad) demanding more dinner.  How can  you resist that face?!

PS  that hair that is whisping over his ears has since been removed.  ew.  while he is cute, that hair is not.

And now,  for another I heart faces submission!   I saw the title of this week’s theme (Smiles) – and this photo immediately popped to my mind.  It’s always been a fave of mine…   she’s a beautiful, happy girl – and I feel this photo totally captures that happiness!

I recently made up a storyboard of photos from Maddy’s session and had it printed…    which, might not sound like a big deal seeing as I’m a photographer and all, BUT…  this was a big feat for me!    Usually at the end of the day, after I’m done with all of my client’s photos and prints and editing, I don’t feel like doing my own.  So, my own pictures sit, and nothing gets done with them.   This time, I forced myself to just do it  – and I am so glad I did!

After reading Karin’s blog post last week, I was inspired to do one of my own about this product.   For those clients who want a storyboard printed, the “standout” is a great way to go as an alternative to canvas.   They are light, ready and easy to hang, and don’t cost as much as canvas.   The one I have here is 16×20, so not huge, but definitely big enough to display a number of photos.

To my past clients – it’s never to late to have one of these printed from your session!  :)

I had the pleasure of meeting yet another fabulous expecting couple last week!    Chris and Leanne found me through a friend (love that!!) and liked what I did with their pictures,  so hired me to do theirs.   After being on bedrest for a good part of her pregnancy, Leanne is now considered low risk – yay for that!   I’m so glad we were able to meet and get some great shots, and am so looking forward to meeting your little one in May or June… enjoy these last weeks with just the two of you :)

It wasn’t raining, but it had been (my feet were soaked at the end of the session!) – but Chris and Leanne were troopers and worked it out!

Thanks again you two, we’ll be in touch soon!

They call it Fix-it Friday at I heart faces.   I call it being-awakened-way-too-early-by-my-son-and-he’s-playing-nicely-so-I-might-as-well-find-something-to-do at Alyssa Brown Photography.

They give you a picture to fix, and you fix it!  So, I played, and this is what I came up with.   All “fixing” was done with Photoshop CS3.   The main thing you’ll see in the original photo is that it’s generally “soft”, but mainly the eyes are out of focus.  To fix that I sharpened the whole picture, but also selected the eyes for some extra love.   Then I did my standard bw conversion on one, and for the color one did a number of curve and color adjustments.

And voila – the finished product.

Well, that was constructive.  Now – on to tackle the day.
